Motley Local seeks a Communications Coordinator

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for managing client and internal storytelling and informational communications in a timely and relevant manner. Similar to a public relations specialist, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for being the voice of our partners’ brands and maintaining public engagements, all under the direction of Motley Local’s Creative Director.
The Communications Coordinator is a self-motivated visionary excited about digital storytelling, new social media platforms, and traditional marketing who will spearhead campaigns, serve as a client liaison, and create content that helps build/engage client and internal brand recognition. For all content, the Communications Coordinator will write copy text that is relevant and engaging, assist in photoshoots and campaigns, and design visuals with high informational and aesthetic quality.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Client social media management and newsletters
Client campaign management
Client communications
Internal campaigns
Internal social media management and newsletters
Client and internal analytics reports
Maintain contact lists
Assist with the overall creative vision for Communications Department
Remain up-to-date with all social media developments (ie. new social media features, trends, etc.)
Required skill set and experiences includes:
Writing skills (including grammar, spelling, and past copywriting experience)
TikTok + Instagram creation and app management
Graphic design
Racial, gender, and anti-oppression analysis
Recommended skill set:
Experience with Google Drive and Calendar
Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Indesign, and Illustrator, as well as Canva
Experience with DSLR cameras
Experience with website design (Squarespace, Wordpress, etc.)
This position is a flex-hour position that will begin with 25-30 hours per week and will grow into a 35 hours per week position. A minimum of 2 days per week are to be worked in-person in our downtown Greensboro office space with the team, including working on-site every Wednesday for staff collaboration. This position is eligible for increased wages once skillset, attention to detail, and organized time management are demonstrated.
Starting wage begins at $18/hour for 25-30 hours per week.

Benefits (after 60 day trial period) include paid: holidays, time off, mileage when applicable*, and a monthly phone stipend. We are looking for this position to grow into a full-time* Communications Manager role to add responsibilities and increase wages.
Current office space is ADA accessible and includes a coffee bar, beer on tap, and parking in downtown Greensboro. Other amenities include a shared kitchen with shared fridge, microwave, oven/stove, and toaster.
